With the Munich Space Summit, two renowned flagship event formats of Bavaria’s aerospace industry are merging: the Munich Satellite Navigation Summit, launched 20 years ago by the Bundeswehr University Munich (UniBw M), and the Munich New Space Summit, first organized by Munich Aerospace in 2023. The event, jointly hosted by Munich Aerospace, UniBw M, and DLR, will take place for the first time from March 23 to 27, 2026.
The Munich New Space Summit and the Munich Satellite Navigation Summit are merging to form the Munich Space Summit.
Univ.-Prof. Mag. Dr. habil. Thomas Pany, Professor of Satellite Navigation at UniBw M, emphasizes:
“With the launch of the Munich Space Summit, we are pooling our strengths, leveraging synergies, and creating a strong, future-oriented platform that will be significant on a global scale. We are establishing an international forum that connects innovation, policy, research, and application.”

“In addition to its two predecessor events, the Munich Space Summit will offer a broader thematic scope and a more dynamic structure, fostering deeper cross-sector exchange – from start-ups to established space agencies, from satellite navigation to deep space,” adds Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Michael Meurer, Chairman of the Executive Board of Munich Aerospace. “Furthermore, the Summit creates a unique forum for dialogue between the space sector and key user industries such as automotive, aviation, security and defense, telecommunications, climate, agriculture, and logistics – all of which rely on space-based technologies and infrastructure.”
The Munich Space Summit will take place from March 23 to 27, 2026, at the Alte Kongresshalle in Munich. Around 600 guests from industry, politics, and research are expected to attend. You can access the website here.
Each half of the week will have its own thematic focus:
From March 23 to 25, the spotlight will be on New Space, taking a forward-looking view of the future of commercial spaceflight, entrepreneurship, and innovation. Building on the Munich New Space Summit of previous years, the program will center on emerging companies, investment strategies, groundbreaking technologies, and new production techniques, as well as the growing importance of start-ups and private capital in the space economy. Special emphasis will be placed on cross-industry dialogue – with leading voices from the defense, automotive, and telecommunications sectors sharing their perspectives on the integration and use of space technologies.
On Wednesday, March 25, all participants will come together for a joint program day featuring high-ranking representatives from international space agencies, political institutions, research organizations, and industry. The agenda includes strategic keynotes and panel discussions addressing cross-sector challenges and opportunities. The evening will culminate in a distinguished gala reception with political representatives, offering ample opportunities for networking.
The second half of the week, starting March 25, will be dedicated to satellite navigation – continuing the tradition of the Munich Satellite Navigation Summit. Topics will include the latest developments in global navigation satellite systems (GNSS), robust PNT architectures, security, policy frameworks, and innovative applications. Leading international experts from agencies, academia, industry, and other relevant institutions will provide insights into how navigation technologies enable critical infrastructure, autonomy, and the mobility of the future.
