Joint TUM and DLR future lab on AI in Earth observation

Munich Aerospace research leader Xiaoxiang Zhu is to lead a future lab on artificial intelligence in Earth observation. Scientists from our partners TUM and DLR succeeded in the federal competition “International Future Labs for Artificial Intelligence”.
The Munich Aerospace research network publishes its first scientific space report. Entitled “New Horizons in Space Technology”, this English-language publication documents the state of space research, looking at promising new technologies and potential applications.
Munich Aerospace Alumnus Abolfazl Lavaei contributed his PhD thesis to the automated control of stochastic cyber-physical systems (CPSs). In this essay, he describes the impact of his work on the safety and reliability of autonomous CPSs in a formal as well as time- and cost-effective way.

The lecture series Forum Munich Aerospace has been launched this winter semester as a series of eleven lectures on the latest developments in aerospace combined with special historical perspectives of the industry, held both at Ludwig Bölkow Campus and the TUM campus in Garching.
Since July 2019, Dr. Maximilian Moll heads the Munich Aerospace Research Group "Data-driven Aviation Management". The young researcher's goal is to help the environment by improving the coordination between air and rail transport.

Munich Aerospace Scholarship Holder receives IFAC Young Author Award

Munich Aerospace Scholarship Recipient Abolfazl Lavaei has been selected as one of the top three finalists for the IFAC Young Author Award at the 15th IFAC Symposium on Large-Scale Complex Systems: Theory and Applications (LSS), 2019.
From 27 to 31 May, researchers from the seven partner regions Bavaria, Georgia (USA), Québec (Canada), São Paulo (Brazil), Shandong (China), Western Cape (South Africa) and Upper Austria gathered at a scientific conference in São José dos Campos.
Representatives of startups from Québec visit the Ludwig Bölkow Campus, the Technical University of Munich and the Universität der Bundeswehr München as part of a delegation trip to Bavaria.
As part of the Scientific Colloquium at the German Aerospace Center in Oberpfaffenhofen, Professor Gerhard Kramer presents the latest findings of his Munich Aerospace Research Group.

With Urban Air Mobility,Munich Aerospace has established a new Key Topic, and additionally has added three new Research Groups to the Research Network.
About 20 Members of the Munich Aerospace Research Network attend the partner event at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Oberpfaffenhofen on 11 December.
During a visit to Ludwig Bölkow Campus, 30 students of the TUM Department of Mechanical Engineering gained insight into the activities and research facilities on Campus.
