Forum Munich Aerospace: The Eurodrone Project – Europe’s new Large, Long Endurance RPAS

Sascha Hapke, Head of Marketing Germany and Eurodrone, Airbus Defence and Space

About

Eurodrone is the first remotely piloted aircraft system (RPAS) natively designed for safe and reliable flight in non-segregated airspace, giving Europe its own sovereign capability in this field. With a payload/endurance performance superior to any competing RPAS currently in the market, Eurodrone offers true multi-mission flexibility from armed IS(TA)R to naval (incl. ASW) and even C³ and AEW. It is a 4-nation development programme between Germany, France, Italy and Spain. Airbus Defence and Space (GER) is the Industrial Prime together with Leonardo (ITA), Dassault Aviation (FRA) and Airbus Defence and Space (SPA) acting as Major Subcontractors (MSC). In February 2022, the development and production contract was approved. The prototype first flight is now expected by mid-2027.

Sascha Hapke leads the Eurodrone Project Marketing Team in Airbus. After Engineering Training at Stuttgart University he earned a Masters Degree at the University of London. In previous roles he has led Airbus Sales in Australasia and in South East Asia, before taking on his current role.
