Munich Aerospace Alumnus receives Munich Aerospace Award
11 April 2018 - Munich Aerospace alumnus Dr.-Ing. Rainer Matthias Rieck (third from left) has received the Munich Aerospace Award for his scientific accomplishments and outstanding engagement within the Munich Aerospace Research Network. The festive conferring took place at the first Munich Aerospace Summit at Ludwig Bölkow Campus on 11 April. The award is endowed with 10,000 euros and was donated by the consultancy maexpartners. Mr Rieck's application-oriented thesis entitled "Discrete Controls and Constraints in Optimal Control Problems" was mentored by doctorate supervisor Professor Florian Holzapfel of TUM and research group leader Professor Matthias Gerdts of UniBw within the framework of the Munich Aerospace Scholarship Programme. During his 4-year scholarship, Matthias Rieck attended numerous academic conferences and completed two extended research stays. Further, he supervised the teaching co-operation for master's students at TUM and UniBw and actively participated in many Munich Aerospace events.
