New Key Topic "Urban Air Mobility" and 3 new Research Groups
20 December 2018 - With Urban Air Mobility, Munich Aerospace has established a new Key Topic, and additionally has added three new Research Groups to the Research Network. Within the Key Topic Urban Air Mobility, the Bauhaus Luftfahrt and scientific partners from the Technical University of Munich and the University of the German Armed Forces Munich explore tomorrow's urban mobility. The Research Group "Modelling, Simulation and Concepts of Urban Air Mobility Transport Systems" has started a co-operation between the Chair of Transportation Systems Engineering at TUM, the Chair of Traffic Engineering at UniBw and the two Bauhaus Luftfahrt Teams "Economics and Transportation" and "Visionary Aircraft Concepts". The group is headed by Dr Kay Plötner.
Another new Research Group headed by Professor Xiaoxiang Zhu investigates "Fusion of Remote Sensing and Social Media Data" within the Munich Aerospace Key Topic Earth Observation. Stakeholders are the TUM Chair of Remote Sensing Technology and the DLR Remote Sensing Technology Institute.
The Key Topic Aerospace Communications and Navigation has also been expanded by an additional Research Group: The UniBw Chair of Signal Processing has joined forces with the Satellite Networks Department of DLR's Institute of Communications and Navigation on the topic "On-board Digital Predistortion for Next-Generation High Throughput Satellites". Professor Andreas Knopp heads the group.
