Information for Applicants

The Munich Aerospace scholarship is aimed at university graduates who wish to pursue a doctorate related to aerospace at the Technical University of Munich or the University of the Bundeswehr Munich. Interested students must meet the following requirements:

  • Completed university degree in a field relevant to aerospace with a final grade of ‘good’ or better
  • Fulfilment of the requirements for admission to a doctoral program at the respective doctoral university (TUM or UniBwM)
  • No more than three years may have elapsed between the date of issue of the university degree certificate and the application for the scholarship

The scholarship amount is tax-free in accordance with Section 3 No. 44 of the German Income Tax Act (EStG) and is granted for a minimum of 12 months and a maximum of 3 years. An extension of the scholarship is not intended.

Munich Aerospace regularly publishes open PhD positions. Applications are only accepted for the advertised positions. Please subscribe to our newsletter to be the first to know when a new position is announced.

Application documents

The following application documents are required:

  • Letter of motivation for the chosen topic
  • CV
  • Two recent letters of reference
  • Certified copies of relevant academic degree certificates

The participating university chair carries out the preliminary selection of participants, and the Munich Aerospace Board of Directors decides on the awarding of scholarships. The requirements for the award of a Munich Aerospace scholarship can be found in the guidelines (PDF).

Only once you have been offered a PhD position, can further steps be taken regarding a possible move to the Munich area. Please understand that we cannot offer any assistance with questions regarding the visa process.
