Munich Aerospace grants scholarships to support young scientists in their doctoral studies. The scholarships are intended for university graduates with a degree in an area relevant to aeronautics and space who seek to earn a doctoral degree from the Technical University Munich (TUM) or the University of the German Armed Forces (UniBwM).
The Munich Aerospace scholarship program aims to support research topics proposed by Munich Aerospace Research Groups. Within each Research Group, at least two of the four Munich Aerospace partners work together on one of the Principal Research Themes. Thus, scholarship recipients will have an opportunity to conduct research on a specific key topic as part of a Munich Aerospace Research Group. In addition, the scholarship program offers candidates the opportunity to enrol in the Munich Aerospace Graduate School.
Munich Aerospace is responsible for all tasks in connection with the scholarship announcement, the grant and the administration of scholarships, i.e. the selection of candidates, the granting and disbursement of funds, and in particular, the supervision of recipients.
The scholarship amount is limited to the amount required to cover costs of conducting doctoral research as well as for defraying living expenses, amounting to EUR 1,575 per month (tax-exempt). A doctoral degree scholarship is tipically granted for a maximum of three years. Additional grants are also given for reasonable expenses directly related to the doctoral studies.
