Research

A central element of Munich Aerospace is the research groups that are formed to coordinate the execution of shared research and development tasks. These groups will encourage cooperation among members by providing for intensive networking. Interdisciplinary cooperation is the basic principle, allowing the participants to pool their regional strengths and take advantage of resulting synergies. The formation of research groups also aims at enabling the participants to exchange ideas, knowledge, and information, and to meet regularly.

Munich Aerospace research groups will be formed to address the selected basic topics and will include at least two of the four institutional partners. Within this framework, research projects are currently planned on the following basic topics:

  • Autonomous Flight Systems
  • Safety in Orbit
  • Geodetic Earth Observation
  • Advanced Aerospace Communication

The Munich Aerospace Research Groups will be lead by professors, department heads or qualified research associates from a university or a non-university partner.

The formation of research groups is also the prerequisite for an application for funds from the association. Munich Aerospace can then allot its research groups scholarship funds from its own programs. Furthermore, approved research groups may also apply for third-party funding.
