Around 30 invited guests from science, industry and politics learned about the activities of Munich Aerospace at Airbus Conference Center.
During the 13th meeting of the Board of Trustees of Munich Aerospace, the member representatives, Professor Merith Niehuss, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Günter W. Hein, Prof. Dr. Klaus Drechsler and Prof. Dr. Michael Meurer announced new appointments and reshuffles in the committees. Two graduates from the Munich Aerospace scholarship program were honored. Dr. Gerd-Achim Gruppe, Chairman of the Board of Trustees Prof. Dr.-Ing. Günter W. Hein and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Klaus Drechsler led through the event. This year Munich Aerospace was facing some personnel changes. In this context, Prof. Dr. Hein introduced the new managing director, Dr. Andreas Lermann.Furthermore, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Günter W. Hein (UniBw) will hand over his role as managing director of Munich Aerospace to Prof. Dr. Michael Meurer (DLR) as of 01.01.2023.
Report of the Executive Board
In the brief report of the Executive Board, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Günter W. Hein highlights the activities of the past months. Particular mention should be made of the 4th Global Aerospace Summit, which took place in Herrsching am Ammersee in September 2022. The three-day event focused on the topic of “Sustainable (Aero) Space: Protecting our Environment with Technological Innovations”. High-ranking participants from academic and industrial fields attended the event Another highlight was the networking event STEM power WOMEN organized by Munich Aerospace which took place at Hensoldt’s premises in Munich. During these regular events, female students can get an excellent insight into the daily working life at technology companies like Hensoldt.
First NewSpace Summit in Munich from May 15 – 17, 2023
For the first time, leading experts in the field of New Space will meet for a conference in Munich. From May 15 – 17, 2023, established companies, government organizations, scientific institutions, start-ups and investors will exchange ideas on how to transform an entire industry regionally, nationally and across Europe. In addition to the conference with high-level representatives, decision-makers and international best practices, an exhibition area and the first Munich NewSpace Night will provide opportunities for exchange and networking. The event will be organized by Munich Aerospace in cooperation with bavAIRia and supported by the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs.
Scholarship holders farewell ceremony with short presentations
This year, graduates were once again bid farewell from the Munich Aerospace scholarship program in a festive setting. Two former scholarship holders, Caroline Specht and Lukas Preis briefly presented themselves and their research topics and received a certificate and confirmation of participation in the Munich Aerospace Graduate School from Dr. Gruppe, Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
This followed by a keynote presentation by retired Brigadier General Dr. Thomas Reiter, followed by an evening reception. This very exciting presentation dealt with the status of current and future space missions. The presentation also included the challenges in Space Traffic Management as well as the explosive nature of Space Situational Awareness.
